How a call goes

No mystery, no surprises.

The same four steps whether you are outside a beach rental in Dewey Beach or beside a work van in Dover.

Call (302) 271-0155
  • You tell us the town and what is locked; we bring what that job needs.
  • A stocked van leaves Georgetown for your address. You never drive to us.
  • Before a tool touches the lock you hear the options: open, rekey, repair or replace.
  • Every key is tried in every lock it should open, and the door is closed and reopened before we leave.
Where we work

Fifty towns, Smyrna down to Fenwick Island.

Beach rentals on the coast, farm properties inland, shopfronts in the county towns. We work out of Georgetown and cover every town on this map.

FAQ

Before you call.

More of them, grouped by job, on the questions page.

Do I have to bring anything to a shop?
No. Lock and Key is a service-area business with no counter and no waiting room — the van comes to your address anywhere in Kent and Sussex County. Give us the street or a landmark and we bring the right stock with us.
Can you make a car key if I have lost every copy?
Yes. Lost key replacement and car key replacement are done at the roadside for most makes on Delaware roads, including cutting the blade and programming the fob or transponder.
I have just moved in. Rekey or replace?
Usually rekeying is enough: the hardware stays, every old key stops working. Replacement makes sense when a lock is worn, damaged, or you want a different grade of hardware. We look at what is on the door and say which one applies before starting.
Do you work on businesses as well as homes?
Yes — commercial work covers master key systems, access control, panic bars and the door hardware that takes a hundred openings a day.
What if the key snapped off inside the lock?
That is broken key extraction. The piece comes out and we check whether the cylinder survived; if it did, a new key is cut on the spot, and if it did not, we talk through repair before anything gets replaced.
Which towns do you actually cover?
All fifty across Kent and Sussex County, from Smyrna at the top to Fenwick Island at the bottom, including Dover, Lewes, Seaford and Rehoboth Beach.
When can I actually reach someone?
Sun–Thu 7:00am – 10:00pm, Friday 7:00am – 6:00pm. Saturday closed. The bar at the top of this page shows whether the phone is being answered right now, and you can send a request at any hour.
